Our history
The first mention of the farm at Platten dates back to the year 1704when it was called Kuen. The farm, which once belonged to the Frauenchiemsee monastery, came into existence through a marriage and subsequent child. 1781 the name Klotz for the first time. The farm was to use this name for the next 12 generations until today. behalten.
In the year 1791 the house was demolished due to the danger of mudslides and falling rocks and rebuilt at its current location. At that time, the Klotz family farm was still a semi-detached house and grew in small steps, generation after generation. Due to the practice of real division at that time, the farm was repeatedly divided into three or four parts. However, it was always possible to reunite the parts.
1967 Klotz Robert took over the farm with his 12 siblings and his mother after the sudden death of his father. In a time of mechanisation and land consolidation in the municipality of Längenfeld, he and his wife Judith continued to expand and convert the farm. To this day, both are a helping hand and an integral part of the Platthof.
In the course of another farm conversion, the farm was 2006 to the second eldest son Ferdinand, who has handed it over to this day with his parents, his wife Lucia and his four children.
The business
The Platthof is run as a full-time farm and specialises in milk production and breeding with the sale of breeding cattle.
The Klotz family cultivates 25 hectares of grassland between 1200 and 1500 metres above sea level in an inner-alpine dry location with about 700 mm of annual precipitation.
In addition to the alpine pasture, which is managed in summer, energy production via photovoltaics and solar power also plays a role on the farm.

Area
The farm manages 9 hectare own and 16 hectare leased land in grassland. The valley areasare used with 3 cuts or by short-grass half-day grazing.
About 5 ha in a medium-steep to steep location are situated above Huben on the sunny plateau Burgstein 1500m. The mountain herbs are mown twice by hand.
Livestock
At the Braunvieh breeding farm live 25 milking cows and 35 young cattle in a comfortable free stall. The animals go out to pasture from spring to autumn and in the summer months they enjoy the summer freshness on the alpine pasture.
The milk yield of the animals is approx. 8800 kg with 4.3% fat and 3.8% protein. This is made possible by automatic and regular feeding.
Alm
About 300 metres above the farm the Platterbergalm is situated in the summer months with the milking cows. There they have access to fresh alpine herbs and grasses all day long.
The young animals are herded up to the communally used Pollesalm. The alpine pasture with its bar is always worth a visit.

Energy
At the Klotz farm, the use of different energies began very early on. As early as the beginning of the 1980s, the warm air in the stable building was used to heat the house through a heat recovery system. In 2009, this was renewed and expanded with a solar system.
In 2011 we also started with a photovoltaic system with 5 kWp. This was expanded to 37 kWp in 2015 and to 90 kWp in 2021. Today, we can produce more energy than we need ourselves and sell the surplus to the regional electricity provider.
Bereits sehr früh begann man sich am Betrieb Klotz mit der Nutzung verschiedener Energien. Schon Anfang der 80er Jahre wurde mit der warmen Luft im Stallgebäude durch eine Wärmerückgewinnung
